Melodies & Memories At Maples Care Home

A musical afternoon was enjoyed at Maples with Marina from Music for Health, as residents took part in an engaging session that encouraged participation and connection. Silly hats added a playful touch while residents enjoyed singing, dancing and playing instruments together. The session supported reminiscence as songs from the past were shared, bringing back memories and encouraging conversation among residents of Maples Care Home in Bexleyheath.

Thank you Marina for leading a warm and inclusive musical activity at Maples, we really enjoyed having you at our home. Staff supported participation and ensured everyone could join in at their own pace and their own rhythm. The use of familiar songs helped create a sense of comfort and familiarity throughout the afternoon.
The event highlighted the value of music-based activities in supporting wellbeing and social interaction within the home. It provided an opportunity for residents to engage creatively and share experiences in a meaningful way. Research shows that music-based therapy can help improve wellbeing for those living in care homes, especially regarding dementia care.
