Although the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has not been visiting care homes over the last three months because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has remained in close contact with providers such as ourselves.
It has recently assessed that Maples Care Home is managing the impact of COVID-19 to the standard required for the safety and wellbeing of residents and staff.
This means the CQC is satisfied that the home can effectively contain any outbreak via safe and well managed infection control procedures and plenty of personal protective equipment. This is particularly important now that we have begun to accept visitors.
We are managing medicines effectively, despite the increased pressures brought by the pandemic, and are protecting residents from harm and abuse via adequate safeguarding procedures. Staff are sufficiently skilled to care for residents during an outbreak, and we provide them with plenty of training and support.

It’s particularly pleasing because my team and I have worked so hard to ensure that our care is safe, effective, caring and responsive to the needs of all our residents at all times,” says home manager Tony Onabanjo.
