Libby has been at the home for just over a year and a half,
initially starting as a temporary member of staff. Libby really enjoyed her
first three months at the home, so when a permanent position came up, she
applied, and thankfully for us, she got it!
The welcome at Maples Care Home is warm and friendly, and you instantly feel part of the family when you walk through the door. This feeling is down to Libby, and for regular visitors, she instantly knows their name and who they’re coming to visit – which is a wonderful welcome into the home.
Previously Libby worked in an Admin role at a Special Needs School, and within this role, she gained her Business and Admin apprenticeship. So, when she first started at Maples Libby had quite basic skills, but she has been able to learn on the job and develop within the role.
“When I first started, I was slightly unsure, as I had never
been into a care home before, so it was quite daunting. But, working here it
has completely changed my perspective of a care home, and it is truly a
wonderful environment to be in – I love it!”
Libby also really enjoys getting to know all the residents, their relatives, and the staff too. Libby also does the paper round every morning and updates the Menus around the home, so she is a welcome face for all our residents at the start of their day. Resident Eric added, “It is such a delight to see her in the morning.”
Home Manager Nicola is really proud of how far Libby has
come, “She has learnt so much here, and she works with me on loads of different
things, her intuition and knowledge is brilliant!”
In her spare time, Libby always likes to get together with
her girlfriends on the weekends, whether that’s going out on the town, or
having a night in making cocktails! They are currently all looking forward to
their girls’ holiday to Ibiza in June.
Libby is also a dedicated Aunty to her Niece Lilly, who’s 9
years old and her two nephews, Ronnie who is nearly 3 and Alfie who is 10
months.
Something you may not know about Libby, is she used to sing, the big ballads were her favourite when she was little. She loves every type of music, current and old, but her singing idol is Celine Dion!
