We are delighted to announce that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has assessed Maples Care Home as ‘Good’ overall following a two-day inspection in November. The inspectors looked at five key areas, rating the home on whether it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led and we received a Good in four out of the five areas.

As you know, Maples received an inadequate rating and was put in Special Measures in January Since that time we have worked tirelessly and put in place wide-ranging changes to address the areas of concern. Our hard work paid off and we were delighted to receive the ‘Good’ rating, achieved during an incredibly challenging year.

During the visit, CQC inspectors spoke with residents, staff and relatives of the home who all remarked on the high level of care and commitment we give to our residents and how we ‘seek feedback from our residents, relatives and staff to improve on the quality of the service we provide’. They also commented on how we support our residents to have ‘maximum choice and control of their lives’ and how our staff were ‘kind, caring and respectful’. We were particularly delighted to receive these observations as we feel that these truly represent the values and ethos of the home.

We would also like to extend our thanks to all of you who have believed in and supported the home throughout this year, and our staff who have worked extremely hard to support the residents during the difficulties arising from the coronavirus pandemic.

Whilst this is wonderful news for the home, we are determined to build on our achievements and will strive continuously to attain the rating of ‘Outstanding’.
